Family Fun

I LOVE when local hotels have great deals.  Many times we want to get away for some R&R, but the hassle of traveling makes us dread the trip.  When we come home, we are so travel weary and feel like we never had a vacation. Pointless!

So when Boston area hotels have great family packages, it becomes super easy to pack a bag and drive a short distance, but feel like you are miles away.

Two hotels are offering family fun during February school vacation week.

The Seaport Hotel Children’s Adventure Package (Boston) is $169 per night (taxes and fees are extra for all packages listed in this post). This overnight package includes deluxe overnight accommodations, 2 adult and 2 children tickets to the Boston Children`s Museum, complimentary use of the Seaport Hotel pool which has underwater music, and complimentary use of Wave Health & Fitness (wear them out!). The package is available February 12 and February 14 – 21, 2010. The hotel is dog friendly too, so the whole family can have a vacation!

The Hotel Commonwealth Hotel for Kids Package features deluxe family accommodations (up to two adults and two children; additional children can be accommodated for $49/child), in a Commonwealth parlor suite (more than 515 square feet of space with a separate seating area that can be closed off with drapes), a welcome backpack for kids stuffed with slippers from LL Bean, a bedtime story, flashlight and the hotels signature Terry bear. Cookies and milk will be delivered upon arrival. Board games and family-friendly DVD’s are available. Overnight valet parking is complimentary with this $289 a night package.  For one night only, (February 19, 2010) the Hotel is kicking off its Hotel for Kids’ Package with a special Storytelling & Pajama Party (with yummy hot chocolate) for just $219.00 for the night.

But these aren’t the only family friendly hotels.

The Colonnade Hotel always has family packages.  The first is the Family Connection Boston Hotel Package. Hectic work schedules and after school activities keep families busy, but don’t leave much room for quality family time. With this $399 Boston hotel package deal, families can re-connect. Kids are right next door with guaranteed connecting rooms (so the parents can have some alone time too).  The package also includes two adult and two children tickets to your choice of a Boston Duck Tour, the Children’s Museum, or the New England Aquarium.  The other package is the Kids See and Do Boston Hotel Package.  It includes luxury accommodations for two adults and two children, VIKids fanny pack welcome gifts for two children, choice of two adult and two children tickets to either The New England Aquarium or The Children’s Museum, full American breakfast for two adults and two children, overnight parking, and a 2 P.M. late check-out! Rates fluctuate so you need to call to determine pricing.

The Boston Four Seasons takes it up a notch. Luxurious accommodations, with the option of 50% savings on a second room, kids get a gift from the Four Seasons Hotel Boston Toy Wagon, two adult and two children’s passes of your choice of the Museum of Science or the Boston Children’s Museum, with additional tickets available for purchase, a visit from the Hotel’s own Ice Cream Man, a toy boat filled with chocolate milk, jumbo homemade cookie and delicious pudding snack, choice of kids’ movies from the extensive VIK movie library, a Four Seasons backpack filled with aKIDQUEST guidebook, fun-filled scavenger hunts through the Hotel and city, word find, custom colouring pages and a colouring book and crayons, bottle of water, and special in-room toiletries – Jet Set Girl (for girls), Boardrider (for boys) and One Planet (for babies).  Families also get the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes visit to our very own Pastry Shop, use of children’s bathrobes throughout your visit, use of our refreshing eighth-floor swimming pool, and for parents of babies, use of deluxe UPPAbaby strollers throughout your visit. Rates vary but are about $500 a night.

The Boston Museum of Science has also teamed up with other Boston Hotels to provide family packages with tickets to the Museum.

Needless to say, you don’t have to go far with the family to have a great adventure this winter.  I better start packing….
